"As a student (at High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China) with his university application pending, I was incredibly prudent when I was considering the activity for my final summer before application. There are thousands of choices available for students like me, and I am aware of that the majority of them are no more than a sightseeing tour to the states, which are meaningless to me. To be honest, even after I decided to attend the CBS program, I still had my hesitation while reading the schedule and course contents. It seemed to me that the topics are so general and easy that this trip may also be dissatisfying. Nevertheless, after attending the program, I have to say I cannot be more satisfied and enjoyed. It was authentically out of my imagination.

The course itself is packed with knowledge and assignments. The professor didn’t limit himself to the basic knowledge points at all; rather, he extended them to a larger context and incorporated them to the reality including every aspect of a business. The professor, with his attracting personal style of teaching, made the course very inspiring. I didn’t feel bored at any instant throughout the program; instead, I was acquiring knowledge all the time. After each class, we have different assignments to do in order to prepare gradually for our final pitch. As we were divided into teams, the completion of works certainly required teamwork and collaboration. The amount of work everyday was just enough to keep everyone busy, too. I had never dreamed of developing my somehow ‘naive’ business idea to a thorough and nearly impeccable business plan covering every possible aspect of consideration; however, I just did so with my team during the program. We all know how long we worked for that and how many nights we stayed up late, and so does everyone else in the program. Combining these features, this program is definitely an academic one, and I can guarantee to anyone who may ask that this program is not a tourist summer camp in NYC.

There is one piece of advice from me: I think the course could be even better if it had been two-week long. The time seemed a little bit limited to me, as we could have learned more. I know it’s difficult regarding the budget and professor’s valuable summer time, but I do hope it can be longer.

Apart from the course itself, the chaperon system the program utilized is also worth-spreading. New York City is a place full of enjoyment after all, so it would be cruel if we were merely on-campus during the days. The chaperons are really satisfying in that they can practically take us to everywhere we want to go and keep our safety at the same time.

In short, the program provides a considerable amount of learning experience as well as a pleasant exploration of New York City. It should have been longer."

Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire"。

I love the Big Apple!"

"The summer of 2013 meant a lot to me- I am a high school graduate to-be, but with my future career almost undecided. But luckily I got into this programme and met a lot of brilliant students who inspire me a lot in my future academic career decision. Before attending the CBS programme I was a student in the affiliated high school of SCNU, the best school in Guangdong province. My horizon was somehow limited in Guangdong. But this time I met people from all over the country – that is what I need to thank you for, a chance to know more about people from different parts of my country.

Also, taking part in this programme enables me to get a closer look at what life in top American universities is actually like. What is more, Jack, my provocative professor, has taught me so much useful business concepts which will benefit me in all aspects. He also encouraged me to make my dreams come true, and I did – when came Tuesday and I handed over my presentation I felt so proud of my project, my team and myself.

What I would like to say a little more about is the after class activities – we totally explored the city! We went to see the Broadway show, visit MoMA and AMNH; these activities enhanced my cultural literacy. Besides we joined a lecture in applying for Columbia university and got to know what is “Columbia spirit”. I believe all these events help me decide what kind of person I want to be.

These days are so amazing, and how pity it only last for 10 days :) And if that maybe I can have more time doing marketing researches and finance work. I am really interested in these two fields. If possible, I want to learn more about economic and business in the future in Columbia University – it is definitely my dream school.

Anyway, I love this programme, and I enjoy these days."
